![]() ![]() The living room TV is an older 3D-capable Samsung. We're using it to watch TV in the bedroom until I'm ready to install in the cab. My wife prefers the Picture Mode set to Standard setting. I've done nothing at this point except make sure that all post-processing is disabled. I have to say I did not miss doing a full calibration on it, and I was quite happy with the picture quality. My previous cab TV was a cheap Westinghouse that did not have menu access to all of these advanced settings. With no equipment at all you can at least adjust brightness, contrast, and sharpness which is better than doing nothing at all. But you can get some level of improvement without a meter if you just obtain a cheap blue filter for adjusting tint. The goal is to reach a happy medium among all the settings. There were dozens of different settings to tweak on my living room TV and they may have interactions with other settings. It's not cheap even when you are trying hard to do it cheaply. Another person's settings might improve your picture quality or it may not. Stock response is that settings from one unit even of the same model does not necessarily transfer to another unit because of variations in the manufacturing process through the run of the product, differences in viewing environment, etc. ![]()
